Tight head, open top, plastic L-ring, fibreboard or Mauser, drums come in many different shapes, sizes and materials. Fortunately, one thing they all have in common is any drum can be lifted safely by the right kind of drum handling forklift truck attachment.
Different products for different drums
Drums are such versatile and practical containers that they have been adapted by different industries to transport different products. Closed (tight head) and plastic L-ring drums, are commonly used for containing oil products and chemicals. Fibre or cardboard drums are used in the pharmaceuticals industry, whereas foodstuffs are often transported in Mauser (open top plastic) drums along with open top steel drums.
However, despite the variety, the majority of drums do have common features, such as a lip around the head that allows the jaws on the gripping head of handling equipment to get a firm grip.

Handling attachments to fit any drum
Our most popular forklift truck attachments, fitted with forged steel HD1 (single) and HD4 (double) gripping heads, can safely handle all of the most common types of drums found in industry, while our base-gripping units are ideal for lifting the Mauser open top plastic drum.
